Market research shows that most people wished they knew their neighbors better. In fact, Ralph Nader once said, "When strangers start acting like neighbors... communities are reinvigorated". What is Islam? Who are Muslims and what are their core beliefs? Since Minnesota's Muslim population has increased in recent years, it makes sense to uncover the myths from the facts. Understand Islam's pillars which include Shahadah (declaration of faith), Salat (daily prayers), Zakat (special tax given to the poor), Sawn (fasting) and Hajj (pilgrimage). Understanding the social structure of the Muslim population and learning basic information about social interaction. Class is interactive and there is time for Q/A along with a light dinner served.
Mashood Yunus is originally from Pakistan. He was raised in the United Arab Emirates and came to the United States in 1992. He finished his Bachelor's Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Mankato State University. Mashood has been currently volunteering as a representative for Building Blocks of Islam for 15 years. He is also teaching Islam 100 classes and leading Quranic Arabic classes.
