Spirit of Hastings
Visit the LeDuc Historic Estate and hear the history of the LeDuc Family and tales about manifestations of spiritual visitors. This 15-room mansion stands as a rare monument of unaltered Gothic Revival architecture. It features a picturesque tower, a limestone exterior, 20-inch-thick walls, a prominent front porch, chimneys for 10 fireplaces and a third-floor chapel with a white pine interior. Tour both the first and second floor. Note: there is not an elevator. Those who want to go outside can visit the carriage barn and simmons shed. Lunch will be in the parlor.
Tour St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, the fifth oldest church in the diocese and was organized as a mission in 1850. Church pews, built of butternut wood and installed in 1867, are still used today. Two small matching pews are found in the chapel of the LeDuc Mansion.
Visit the Alexis Bailly Vineyard to taste and purchase wine. In 1973, the family planted the first vineyard in Minnesota with a pioneering spirit that has brought them unlikely fame in the wine world.
