Our Driver Education program is taught by certified licensed instructors. The state of Minnesota requires anyone under the age of 18 wishing to obtain a MN Driver’s License to complete an approved course in driver education. This course must include a minimum of 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. The classroom includes lecture, class discussion, guest speakers, films, written work from textbooks and written tests. Behind-the-wheel training allows a student to practice driving on public streets and highways with an instructor in a dual-control (two brake) car. If a student misses a class due to illness, they will need to make up the class in the next session, or in another TriDistrict Community Education Drivers Education Class. The fee is $375. Payment can be made in full at the time of registration or pay $225 at the time of registration and $150 at the end of the 30 hours prior to the student receiving the 'blue' card.
