Arrive at the American Swedish Institute. Spend time in the Bokhandel Gift Shop with Swedish Crystal and Glass, Art and Design, Crafts, Collectibles, Jewelry, Books, Music, Scandinavian Kitchen Items, decorations, candy and more.

Have a traditional Swedish lunch in a European atmosphere. Menu: Smӧrgåsbord buffet is filled Beet salad, Cucumber Dill Salad, Assorted Bread and Butter, Lingonberries, Mashed Potatoes, Swedish Meatballs, Coffee, and Water.

Take a guided tour of The Turnblad Mansion, decorated for the holiday season.

Step back in time and experience the exquisite 33-room mansion, including detailed wood carvings, sculpted ceilings, and hand-crafted Swedish tile stoves. Learn about the fascinating Turnblad family, the art and architecture of the mansion, and the history of early Minneapolis. In 1908, the Turnblads, a Swedish immigrant family, completed the construction of their castle-like mansion. Twenty-one years later, they gave it all away to the community, founding the museum and cultural center that would become the American Swedish Institute. Today, the American Swedish Institute is a place to learn about and experience Swedish, Swedish-American, and Nordic culture, learn about the role of Swedish and other immigrants in Minnesota’s history.
