Objective: To give students success with fundamental skills Requirements: Students entering this level must possess a Level 1 certificate or demonstrate all the Level 1 skills on day one of class. Skills Taught: Entering water by stepping or jumping in from the side, rotary breathing, submerging entire head, blowing bubbles, open eyes underwater, front and back glide, treading water, swim 15 feet on front and back, swimming on side, use of a life jacket. Course format: Classes run 30 minutes with 6 students per instructor

Parents and children learn together with fun activities to increase a child's comfort level in the water and build a foundation of basic skills, such as arm and leg movements, breath control as well as water safety. Water diapers are required for infants and toddlers who aren't trained. Course format: Classes run 30 minutes with 6 parent/child pairs per instructor.

    Water Safety Aide (June 10-13) (Ages: 13+)

    A class for those interested in assisting swim instructors emphasizing lesson levels and proper teaching techniques. A great class for students ages 13 and up who love water, enjoy working with children, and are considering seeking future employment as a Water Safety Instructor or Lifeguard (WSI/LG). There will be an opportunity after completion of this session to volunteer and get hands-on experience during our summer swim lessons. Students who complete this course can continue to volunteer in our aquatics program to build their skills and resume for future job opportunities in the aquatics field.   • Water Aerobics with Mary Ellen-Daytime

    This water aerobics class combines music and movement, using both the deep and shallow areas of the pool. It is designed to improve range of motion, flexibility, and strength of muscles, and cardiovascular endurance. Exercises performed in the deep water utilize a waist flotation belt to suspend the participant, allowing optimal joint movement and preventing joint impact. You will need an aqua fitness flotation belt. These are available online and at sporting goods stores. **Drop-ins are not allowed, we do not have cash/change on site.
