Summer Camps and Classes will open over the next few weeks. We are working hard to confirm dates, spaces and times with staff and posting as camps are confirmed. 

  • Camps are sorted by the week they start. 
  • Please register your student for the grade they will be in for Fall of 2025.

Art Experiments with Abrakadoodle (Grades: K-4)

In this camp we will have fun using art materials and science to create some cool special effects. We’ll investigate the world of art and science. We’ll experiment with tinfoil, shaving cream, glow in the dark paint, chalk, glue, salt and watercolor to make interesting and colorful creations. We’ll make cupcakes on canvas with puffy shaving cream frosting, make art that glows, try our hand at foil embossing and more in this in this camp of art experiments. Bring a beverage and a nut free snack.

Drama Lab (Grades: 1-5)

Drama Lab is a creative haven where budding performers unleash their imagination and hone their acting skills. Led by experienced instructors, students explore the exciting world of theatre through engaging activities, improvisation games, character development, and scene work. The last day of class, families are invited to watch a short performance! If you have taken this before, come on back because our classes are never the same!

Natural Wonders through Art with Ms. Dunham (Grades: 2-4)

Be inspired by Minnesota's beautiful outdoors using plants, flowers, trees and animals as you create your own art. Students will create nature journals, and use clay, printmaking and watercolor paint to celebrate the wondrous outside world. Taught by Mendota Art Teacher Ms. Dunham

ISD 197 Safeway Driver's Education In-Person at TRHS Summer Classes (June-August)
Summer Driver's Ed Classes

School District 197 Youth Enrichment is now partnering with Safeway Driving School to offer our Driver's Education classes. Safeway has been graduating safe teen drivers in the Twin Cities for over 50 years. Safeway’s only focus is creating safe, responsible teen drivers. Classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons emphasize defensive driving techniques tailored for the inexperienced teen driver while targeting to influence the invincible teen attitude. All of Safeway’s instructors are licensed by the Minnesota Dept. of Public Safety. Parent involvement is required to produce safe, responsible teen drivers. It is critical that parents practice regularly with their student drivers. The state requires that students have a minimum of 50 hours of practice (15 hours at night). The practice time must be recorded on a state-approved Supervised Driving Log and presented at the road test. Parent Classes are offered monthly in person or by distance learning (via Zoom). This class is not required but qualifies the parent to receive a certificate that allows their student reduced practice time (from 50 to 40 hours). Parents can sign up for a Parent Class on Safeway’s website. At a minimum, Safeway strongly encourages parents to review its parent information and watch the online Parent Class Videos at www.safewaydrivingschool.com. Cost of the teen package is $420 and includes the classroom, behind-the-wheel lessons and all materials. There are no hidden charges or additional fuel surcharges. Pay in full upon registration $420 or choose the payment plan: $250 at registration and $170 due the Friday before class starts. Students must be at least 14.5 years old to join the class. Wizards of Chess Summer Camp/Campamento de verano de Wizards of Chess (Grades: 1-6)
8: Camps Starting the Week of Aug 4

Join in on the fun for an all day chess camp! Everyone is welcome to come get a greater understanding in this Royal Game! Whether you are new to chess or an experienced player there will be material covered for all! We will go over opening theory, 2 openings, tactics, endgames and fun variations of chess. Other activities include a rocket building, outdoor breaks with organized games, team building exercises and a chance to make new friends and see old ones! Each activity is inclusive with a positive fun environment no matter your skill level! Please remember to pack some sunscreen, sack lunch, rocket garage (shoe box) and a water bottle! Don’t forget the smiling face! Rocket launch will be at 2:30pm Thursday for family members that would like to attend, guaranteed to be a blast!
