    Must be a Learn to Swim Level 4. Ability to swim 50 years continuously, both freestyle and backstroke.
  • Open Swim at Central Square!

    Open Swim at Central Square! Minimum registration required: 20 participants All ages welcome when supervised on deck by a parent/adult guardian. Children 6 and under must have an adult in the water. Diving board is open for any swimmer who passes the deep water swim test or have passed Level 2 lessons at Central Square. Please register online or pay at front desk.

    Please add your name to the waiting list if classes are full. We are working hard to hire more staff for summer swim lessons and we will add extra classes if possible. If you are on the waitlist for a class and another class at that level and time is added you will get first priority. Your credit card is not charged when you are on the waitlist.

    Preschool 1 (Ages 3 to 5) Preschoolers learn to enjoy water safety and perform basic skills. Skills performed with flotation include: Enter and exit the water safely Submerge and explore underwater Glide and recover on front and back Float on back Roll over front to back, back to front Swim on front and back, 5 yd. Registration tip: Upon completion of required skills, children ages 3 to 5 should register for Preschool 2. Children ages 5 and up should register for Learn-to-Swim Lessons: Level 1. Preschool 2 (Ages 3 to 5) Preschoolers experience success with fundamental skills. Skills performed with assistance include: Jump into shoulder-deep water Submerge and explore underwater Float and glide on front and back Roll over front to back, back to front Tread water, 15 sec. Swim on front and back, 5 yd. Prerequisite: Children must have completed Preschool 1 or have equivalent skills. Registration tip: Upon completion of required skills, children ages 3 to 5 should register for Preschool 3. Children, ages 5 and up should register for Learn-to-Swim Lessons: Level 2.   • Summer 197 Lap Swim-Evening (Ages: 15+)

    District 197 Aquatic Center is hosting adult lap swim. Lap swim is open for anyone ages 15+ who can swim 50 yards continuously. This is a swim at your own pace, non instructional opportunity. Registration is required and space is limited. **May 14-June 4th: There will be 4 lanes available for lap swim, you are required to share a lane if all lanes are full. Swim Lessons will be using the other 4 lanes. After June 4th all 8 lanes will be open. We provide a lifeguard for adult lap swim if we are short on staffing or lifeguard is out sick, we will cancel and prorate you for the missed day--please make sure your email is up to date and select 'can receive' SMS messaging in your account, this is a quick and easy way for us to notify you if the pool closes due to weather or mechanical issues. Requests for cancellations/refunds must be received by our office 7 days prior to the first class session. A $10 service charge will be applied to your refund. No refunds are issued after the first session or the registration deadline.
  • Summer Private Swim Lessons (Aug 4-7) (Ages: 4-17)

    Learn to swim in a class customized just for you! This is a private 30-minute session with your child to work on water safety, stroke enhancement or specific skills that need work. This is a great option for children that need the extra one-on-one time with an instructor.
  • SSP Swim Club at Central Square (Ages 8-15)

    Are you looking for a local opportunity to refine your strokes and build endurance for swim team? Want some game time in the water with other swimmers? Summer Swim Club at Central Square is just the place to keep up your swimming muscles and enjoy the water. Workouts will include water safety skills, building fitness as a swimmer and fundamentals of using the diving board. Skill requirement: Must be able to swim 25 yards front crawl and 25 yards backstroke. Come prepared with a one-piece swimsuit, goggles, water bottle, towel and snack. Eat a hearty breakfast!   • Kids' Choice School-Age Care ONLY - Summer Swim Lessons

    We are offering swim lessons this summer for Kids' Choice School-Age Care Only. These lessons will take place with certified instructors at Central Square Community Center during Kids' Choice hours, and transportation will be provided by Kids' Choice. Registration tip: Children, at the age of 3, may register for Preschool 1 to be in a class without a parent. Preschoolers in the Parent Child class learn skills with the comfort of a parent or guardian in the water. Requirements: Students entering this level must possess a Level 4 certificate or demonstrate all the Level 4 skills on day one of class. Skills Taught: Shallow dive, Head-first surface dive, Tread water-5 mins, using legs only-2 min, Front crawl and elementary backstroke, 50 yd. each, Back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly and sidestroke, 25 yd. each Course format: Classes run 30 minutes with 6 students per instructor

Course format: Classes run 30 minutes with 5 students per instructor
