Virtual ACT Prep Class This course is an excellent alternative for any student unable to attend an in-person class, but still prefers the interaction with one of the Advantage Educational Programs' instructors. The Virtual ACT Prep Course is the same as the In-Person ACT Prep Course, but from the comfort of your own home. The instructors teach live via virtual classroom and are available to answer questions if needed. The fee for this course is $180 and the only things you need are an internet connection and a computer/tablet/smart phone. Instructions will be sent to you via email a few days before the course begins. Students can make up any class they miss at other available class locations and may also REPEAT any of the ACT prep courses by requesting the Self-Paced ACT Prep Course at no additional charge. Students can attend any missed classes at TRHS when the course if offered again and may repeat the course at no charge. School District 197 Youth Enrichment Community Education is pleased to partner with Advantage Educational Programs. For the past 26 years, Advantage Educational Programs benefited thousands of students in Minnesota by preparing them for the college entrance exams. They offer ACT Preparatory Courses in more than forty high schools in Minneapolis/St. Paul and the surrounding area. Online ACT Preparatory Course This course is an excellent alternative for any student unable to attend in-school classes or for a student preferring to prepare for the ACT exam on their own, and study at their desired pace. The fee for this course is $80, and you may repeat the course at no charge until you graduate from high school. The online course will allow students to log-in for the course and proceed at their own pace. The course will be using Google Classroom to present the online course and it will be equivalent to the 12 hour classroom time. The course will use instructors' videos, voice-overs, illustrations, and slides that guide you through all of the testing areas of the ACT. You will also be able to communicate with the instructor when you have questions or concerns. School District 197 Youth Enrichment is now partnering with Safeway Driving School to offer our Driver's Education classes. This is a virtual class offered via Zoom from 4pm-7pm. Please make sure your email is correct and is the email you want the link sent to for the class. Links will be sent out prior to class starting. Safeway has been graduating safe teen drivers in the Twin Cities for over 50 years. Safeway’s only focus is creating safe, responsible teen drivers. Classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons emphasize defensive driving techniques tailored for the inexperienced teen driver while targeting to influence the invincible teen attitude. All of Safeway’s instructors are licensed by the Minnesota Dept. of Public Safety. Parent involvement is required to produce safe, responsible teen drivers. It is critical that parents practice regularly with their student drivers. The state requires that students have a minimum of 50 hours of practice (15 hours at night). The practice time must be recorded on a state-approved Supervised Driving Log and presented at the road test. Parent Classes are offered monthly in person or by distance learning (via Zoom). This class is not required but qualifies the parent to receive a certificate that allows their student reduced practice time (from 50 to 40 hours). Parents can sign up for a Parent Class on Safeway’s website. At a minimum, Safeway strongly encourages parents to review its parent information and watch the online Parent Class Videos at www.safewaydrivingschool.com. Cost of the teen package is $420 and includes the classroom, behind-the-wheel lessons and all materials. There are no hidden charges or additional fuel surcharges. Wizards of Chess, Chess Club! Join us in learning this National Award Winning Program! Learning the game of chess promotes imagination, creativity, develops memory, teaches independence, inspires self-motivation, and develops a logical way of thinking. Come and learn about Winterguard with TRHS Winterguard athletes and Head Coach Katie. Students grades 2-6 are invited to learn basic flag twirling and dance skills with our TRHS Winterguard team and apply those skills to a short routine! At the end of the 7 weeks, students will have the opportunity to perform at the home Winterguard competition on Saturday February 7th at Friendly Hills Middle School. **Students new to the activity will receive a TR Winterguard t-shirt
