Friendly Hills: ROCC Climbers Leadership Program (Grades: 5-8)

ROCC--Residents of Color Collective is offering their program ROCC Climbers for BIPOC youth after-school at Friendly Hills. **There is no charge to register but please sign up so ROCC is able to plan for activities. Developing our youth to climb the world! BIPOC students can join us after-school as we CREATE, LEAD, INSPIRE, MOTIVATE & BUILD! This is a youth development and leadership opportunity for BIPOC youth at Friendly Hills. We will create an energetic safe space that promotes self-love and awareness, love of culture and a love of nature. This spring we will focus on becoming Healthy Climbers! We will learn about: Self-Love: Safe Choices Leadership and Life Skills Engaging in Healthy Communication Creating Healthy Relationships Kids can take the activity bus home at 5:15pm or be picked up at 5pm at the school. This one-day certification course teaches participants to take care of themselves and others by exploring basic care of infants and children, basic first aid, emergency protocols, home safety, child behavior, developmental milestones, age-appropriate activities, professionalism, leadership and more. Participants will receive a digital copy their Babysitter’s Training Certification and Babysitter’s Handbook via email the day before from Allison Curtis, please make sure your email is up-to-date. 197 ACT Prep Virtual with Instruction (Grades: 10-12)

Virtual ACT Prep Class This course is an excellent alternative for any student unable to attend an in-person class, but still prefers the interaction with one of the Advantage Educational Programs' instructors. The Virtual ACT Prep Course is the same as the In-Person ACT Prep Course, but from the comfort of your own home. The instructors teach live via virtual classroom and are available to answer questions if needed. The fee for this course is $180 and the only things you need are an internet connection and a computer/tablet/smart phone. Archery with Dodge Nature Center (Grades: 5-8)

Archery with Dodge Nature Center **Only students participating in the ROCC Youth Leadership program after-school this school year can sign up for the ROCC section and rate. First time archers? Learn all the basics about bows and arrow in a safe and friendly environment. Experienced instructors will teach you everything you need to know to safely use bows and arrows. This class is a great entry into the sport of archery. Kids will be able to take the activity bus from Friendly Hills or Heritage to Dodge Nature Center You can also drop your student off at Dodge if you prefer at the Marie Entrance. **Kids will have to be picked up at Dodge Nature Center Marie Entrance, by 5pm by a parent or guardian--the activity bus is not provided to get home. If a student is picked up later than 5pm a charge will be applied by Dodge Nature Center for a late pick-up. Grades 5-8 welcome. Water Safety Aide (June 10-13) (Ages: 13+)

A class for those interested in assisting swim instructors emphasizing lesson levels and proper teaching techniques. A great class for students ages 13 and up who love water, enjoy working with children, and are considering seeking future employment as a Water Safety Instructor or Lifeguard (WSI/LG). There will be an opportunity after completion of this session to volunteer and get hands-on experience during our summer swim lessons. Students who complete this course can continue to volunteer in our aquatics program to build their skills and resume for future job opportunities in the aquatics field. For ages 6 to 36 months accompanied by a parent or guardian in the water. Parents and children learn together with fun activities to increase a child's comfort level in the water and build a foundation of basic skills, such as arm and leg movements, breath control as well as water safety. Water diapers are required for infants and toddlers who aren't trained. Course format: Classes run 30 minutes with 6 parent/child pairs per instructor.

At the 20th Annual Jr Warrior Dance Camps, your Dancer will learn 3 dances at each camp! Each camp will have a different theme! Campers will learn high kick and jazz skills as well as a fun, theme dance! There will be a performance on Thursday evening of each camp to showcase their dances! Camp instructors are current members of the Two Rivers Dance Team! Join in with us on this annual summer tradition!

197 Virtual: District 197 Summer Driver's Education

Our Driver’s Education program is offered in partnership with A+ Driving School. The course is approved by the State of Minnesota and meets all requirements for training anyone under the age of 18. The course fee includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind the wheel instruction. For the virtual classroom series, you must attend by logging in to the live broadcast at class time each day on a device that has the ability to be seen as well as heard for the entire class time. Please provide participant's email address during the registration process to send the meeting invite. This email needs to be accessible from the device being used. Participants missing class must wait for the next session to make up missed time--you must make up the same day that missed, for example of you missed day 3 of class you must make up day 3 of the next session.
